Hey, Dion here. Just for context: I'm writing this after having just finished the first rehearsal for Eurovision 2023. Because that's where I'm going, together with my friend Mia! How crazy is that? The journey to get to this point has been unpredictable, scary, and fun at the same time. 10 years ago I decided to really follow my passion for music and try to make it as an artist.

In those 10 years, I played anything from empty bars, campfires, and living rooms, to pop venues and billionaire yacht parties (true story!). I had my heart broken (a couple of times). And wrote so many songs that will never see the light of day. In 2018 I even lost my voice and couldn’t perform for almost a year. So it hasn’t necessarily been a smooth ride, but I literally wouldn’t change a thing! And to be honest, all the falling and getting back up again; kinda is what life is about anyway.

Then the pandemic happened and my calendar was completely empty in the blink of an eye. So I started DM’ing every songwriter and artist that I wanted to write with and made a bunch of songs. Some of those songs ended up on my debut EP ‘Too Young, Too Dumb’. One of them even did quite well and is currently almost at 2 million streams. It got me noticed by Duncan Laurence and he invited me to write songs with him and eventually even asked me to perform as the opening act on his Small Town Boy tour. And most amazingly of all: the song that got me into this position - on the precipice of performing at Eurovision 2023 - was also written at that time! A seed that was planted in a very strange time, grew into the tree that took me higher than ever before.

I’m so grateful that I get to live out the dream of being an artist, which started when I was just a kid. And for the beautiful experiences and lessons, I gathered along the way. It made me love what I do so much more.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and I hope you enjoy all there is to come!

Much love, Dion Cooper
